The Hollander Lecture Series in Women’s Leadership is coordinated by the Women’s Institute at Chatham University and is made possible by funding from the endowed Barbara Stone Hollander ’60 Women’s Leadership Fund. Established in 1993 by Barbara and her husband, Thomas Hollander, Esq., the fund supports initiatives that encourage the preparation of Chatham University students as leaders in their fields by bringing outstanding women leaders to the campus and by providing grants for student activities related to leadership development.

Student Leadership Award

The Barbara Stone Hollander ’60 Student Leadership Award is awarded annually in memory of Barbara Stone Hollander in recognition of her life-long commitment to providing opportunities for women to assume significant leadership roles. The $2,500 Hollander Student Prize is awarded each year to a student for a practical experience in leadership development.

About Barbara Stone Hollander:

Barbara Stone Hollander graduated from Chatham in 1960 with a degree in English. She went on to earn her Ph.D. and was instrumental in establishing a new branch of consulting services and academic scholarship focused on family-owned enterprises. Barbara was a faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Applied Research, the Washington and Lee Business Institute, and the Owner-Managed Business Institute. She was a consulting editor to the Jossey-Bass Publishers’ series on family business management and wrote articles and columns for business publications. She was also very active in women’s rights. Barbara was a Trustee at Chatham University and received a Trustee Award for Distinguished Service as well as a Distinguished Alumna Award.
